Guillaume Depardieu

A sad story came to an end yesterday, with the death announced of 37 year-old Guilluame Depardieu at the Raymond-Poincare hospital west of Paris. He died of pneumonia, taken ill while filming in Romania.

The son of Gerard Depardieu, Guillaume never got on with his famous father and in 2004 published an autobiography accusing the iconic French actor of neglecting his children in his pursuit of money and fame.

While he appeared with his Gerard in the 1991 movie Tous les Matins du Monde (All the Mornings of the World), Guillaume's first acclaimed role was in Les Apprentis (The Apprentices), for which he one a Cesar, the French equivalent of the Oscar. But he led a troubled life, including prison terms for heroin possession.

The film they made together in 2002 A Loving Father now seems to have added resonance.
