Sandra Bernard insists her recent comments about Sarah Palin have been taken out of context.
The comedienne has been dropped from a fundraising event for a Boston charity after making a gang-rape gag about the vice-presidential candidate.
Organizers for Rosie’s Place, which offers refuge to women who have been physically, sexually and mentally abused, were unimpressed.
"In no way am I making any sort of joke about crimes against women,” protests the gobby funny-woman, never been noted for her subtlety. “Quite the contrary - I'm speaking out about someone who doesn't do enough to protect women”.
